Using Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) to Slow the Effects of Aging

October 15, 2019

The Fountain of Youth has been depicted in numerous books, TV shows, and movies— Death Becomes Her, starring Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep, anyone? Even though we’re obsessed with the myth, it’s been proven untrue, especially since even the Kardashians regularly see a cosmetic dermatologist and are no strangers to the magic of facial fillers. And, if anyone had located the Fountain of Youth, it would have been them, right?

No one understands the issues that come along with aging better than Nūr Medical Spa. You want to look your best— and feel it, too. There are endless benefits of being young and agile aside from aesthetics, after all. The sad truth is that we all experience a decline in both physical and cognitive function around the age of 30; this is because of those fun-to-deal with hormonal imbalances.

There is a solution to this very real, very human issue, however, and it’s called Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, or BHRT

Whether you know it or not, hormones affect every square-inch of your body and play a significant role in achieving and maintaining whole body health and wellness. Since we are not infallible, despite our best wishes to be, hormonal imbalances commonly begin during menopause for women and andropause for men when testosterone decreases. Modern environmental and dietary toxins can also expedite these natural changes more quickly than our biological clocks anticipate.

Unfortunately, these hormonal imbalances can have a lot of adversary effects on the body and often surface through weight gain, irritable bowels, dry skin, hair loss, fatigue, mood swings, difficulty in concentration or memory, decreased muscle mass, increased risk of stroke or cancer, and much more. Recently, many scientists have supported the theory that aging leads to hormone decline, as opposed to hormone decline leading to aging. (If you want to impress your friends at the next dinner party you throw, it’s called the Neuroendocrine Theory! You’re welcome.)

Now that you know more about the repercussions of hormonal imbalances, caused by aging—the next natural question is: what can be done about it? Well, you already know our answer, since we name-dropped it in the beginning of the blog! That’s right— Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, more commonly referred to as BHRT. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy is a natural approach to support the production of hormones your body relies upon for its health and longevity.

BHRT seeks to increase and balance estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, and adrenal hormones. With Nūr Medical Spa’s state-of-the-art diagnostic hormone testing, our expert team of professionals can analyze your hormone levels, using blood, urine, or saliva to determine your unique needs.

Other than the testing, we will conduct natural hormone balancing through the BHRT treatment, in addition to a comprehensive review of your symptoms and histories, on-going evaluations, and planned treatments to manage nutrition, fitness levels, and stress. Our goal is to get you back to the hormone levels you experienced in your 20s and 30s —and, who doesn’t want the opportunity to reverse their biological clocks and nip age-related illnesses in the bud?

BHRT is coming soon to Nūr Medical Spa. If you’re interested in taking the next step and learning more about BHRT, contact us at (225) 255-2963.
